Connect personal reading and prayer with church community life: discussions, shared events and participation in sermons. The product needed mobile clients, a shared backend and a web dashboard for administrators.
Independently designed and built Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform iOS/Android clients, a Ktor/PostgreSQL backend, website and management dashboard. Implemented WebSocket interactions, community membership and role checks, SQLDelight local storage and server synchronization.
Personally took my own product from idea to App Store and Google Play publication and Docker deployment of the backend. Delivered one platform for community members and administrators: mobile apps, social features, web dashboard and website.
Key features and engineering
Community social network
Discussions with nested replies, reactions, testimonies and prayer requests. WebSocket updates, typing indicators and read receipts support live conversations.
Interactive sermons and polls
Administrators control the current sermon block while participants receive live updates. Revision checks reject stale edits; polls support anonymity, one vote per person and automatic closing.
Events and push notifications
Community calendar, RSVPs, QR attendance check-in and ICS calendar export. Push notifications and links to the relevant content.
Offline use and synchronization
Read and search downloaded texts without a connection. SQLDelight stores personal data locally; note and prayer journal changes sync to the server after reconnecting.
Web dashboard and access control
Manage community members, content and events. Administrator/member roles, membership and plan checks, and SSO from the app into the web dashboard.
Subscriptions and payments
Community plans and donations through Stripe. Webhook handling, subscription status updates and plan-based feature access.
